Jonathan Evans, Principal

Jonathan Evans is a multiplying pioneer of cells and outposts who, with his wife Carla and a team of zealots, helps lead 614 Vancouver and The War College. A gifted teacher and shepherd, Jonathan teaches, disciples, and leads, and also coordinates the The War College.

Carla Evans, Spiritual Formation Director

Carla leads intercessory prayer and formation exercises for War College student. A strong spirit, intimate relationship with Jesus and consistent discernment gift her for this endeavour. Carla’s organizational skills ensure a thorough and well established programme of prayer, retreat, scripture and spiritual guidance alongside curriculum and mission opportunities.

Aaron White, Corps Officer of Vancouver 614
Aaron White is a gifted communicator, both speaking and writing, who, with his wife Cherie and a team of zealots, helps lead 614 Vancouver. Aaron focuses on incarnational children’s initiatives that are transforming the lives of many. Author of FUTURIZE, REVOLUTION, and A HITCH-HIKER’S GUIDE TO THE KINGDOM, Aaron teaches courses and coordinates children’s and youth brigades at The War College.

Cherie White

Cherie leads the charge of love with the league of mercy. Cherie charismatically leads students to spend their lives on the fatherless and oppressed. As a gifted discipler full of compassion, Cherie adds to spiritual formation and passion in The War College setting.

Michael Collins

Michael is a throw-back, a greatheart, a passionate, zealous warrior. This larger-than-life soldier puts the fear of God into the enemy. He leads the war on several fronts out of the Cariboo Hill Temple. His spirit will stir up and overflow from the students into their worlds. When not teaching at The War College, Michael leads SWAT, DOGS, Street Combat, SFU campus ministry TALK’S CHEAP, Cariboo Hill Small Groups, and a myriad of kids sports teams.

Stephen Bell [BA (Hons), BRS, MTS, Tyndale Seminary]

Stephen Bell applies his scholarship to teaching Biblical Interpretation and Salvation Army Worldview introducing students to exegesis, critical thought and disciplined Bible reading. As a chaplin at The Salvation Army’s Belkin House, Stephen sees souls won for Jesus and plugged into a plethora of discipleship encounters including The War College. He enjoys swimming, reading and eating at any place that acts like it doesn’t really want to serve people. His scholarly passions include Critical Reasoning, Exegesis, Salvation Army Diversity and The Second World War. He is soon to be married to Rebecca Barnes, Shelter Manager of Belkin House.

Adjunct Faculty:

Nicole Brindle

Nicole Brindle is a War College Alumnus graduating from the Martyrs session in 2005. Her passions include: the poor, evangelism, salvation, prayer and she really digs The War College.  Nicole still lives in the DTES (home of The War College, Vancouver) investing her time in child and youth discipleship, street evangelism and corps service, while she works bi-vocationally at The Salvation Army’s Grace Mansion – a transitional residence in the neighbourhood.  Nicole is actively involved in the mission and vision of The War College.  “I can never see myself not being involved in The War College”, Brindle says, “It’s like it is a part of me now”.  Nicole’s official role at TWC is ‘Recruiting Secretary’ and is soon to be commissioned at ‘Drill Sargent’, unofficially she just simply lives life and encourages everyone around her to do the same.  Nicole also likes writing, travelling and painting trees.

Jeni Parsons
Jeni Parsons co-ordinates Holy Space, a Holy Spirit led debrief for The War College. A former staff member of Youth With A Mission, Jeni provides an experienced prophetic dimension to the war in the downtown eastside and teaches courses in prayer and the prophetic.

Ian and Elaine Gillngham
The Gillinghams, established in intercession and the prophetic, bring spiritual depth and wisdom to The War College. Experience in congregational leadership, personal ministry, and reconciliation efforts enables them to offer excellent training from a perspective on the edge of what God is doing in these days. They will also share their burden for the more fragile in our world, and specifically, in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Major Winn Blackman
Major Blackman, with her husband, has led a couple of Canada’s largest corps, as well as a couple of her most interesting divisions. She is currently based in Vancouver, where, together, the Blackmans lead The Salvation Army in British Columbia towards advance and great commission growth. Winn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies and Theology, and acts as a a Qualified Church Plant Assessor, a Coach for Natural Church Development, and a Facilitator for the Search for Life/CareForce ministries. A gifted preacher and teacher, her vision is based in “Isaiah 43:16-21-where the prophet assures us that God wants to do a new thing in our country, which will result in revival.” Part of the working out of this vision includes her investment as a teacher in The War College, Vancouver campus.

Andrew Evans

Andrew holds to the biblical teaching that a believer’s body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and therefore encourages believers to represent Christ with a healthy body. He enacts this in his personal life through his involvement with organized sports and outdoor pursuits as well as in his work life where he practices as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Professional Fitness and Lifestyle Consultant, and Certified Personal Trainer. Andrew also expresses his belief in acts of worship as the evangelism ministries coordinator at Cariboo Hill Temple and as fitness consultant for The War College.

Visiting Faculty:

General Eva Burrows (R)
The retired international leader of The Salvation Army, General Eva Burrows keeps a worldwide ministry, and serves on the Board of the International Bible Society. She served 17 years as a missionary in Africa. As General (1986-1993), she preached in 62 countries and spread the message of the Army to presidents and royalty. Under her leadership The Salvation Army invaded East Germany, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, and Russia. She is the recipient of many honourary doctorates, and is appointed a Companion of the Order of Australia.

Major Doug Burr
Majors Doug and Debbie Burr are Corps Officers in Quincy, MA, USA. As an officer’s child, Doug Burr has spent his entire life involved in The Salvation Army. Because of frequent transfers, he attended 13 different schools before graduating High School. With a gift-mix including horizontal apostle, teaching, deliverance, and faith, Doug has led corps in five cities in the eastern United States along with 2 administrative positions. Doug has a BA in Music Performance on trombone and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Ministry. Doug is currently enrolled in the WLI’s Doctorate program. His God-given purpose is to equip and empower God’s people for their ministries and give all the glory to God the Father.

Faytene Kryskow
We first were in relationship withFaytene Kryskow when she ministered as an urban missionary in Vancouver’s downtown eastside. She has also served as a missionary in Liberia with Hope For The Nations, where she saw much fruit in terms of conversions, established services, and new ministries. Faytene has served Vancouver in various capacities, including city programme director of NeighbourLink Vancouver (World Vision Canada), Vancouver House of Prayer leader, and Vancouver History Course trainer. Currently, Faytene leads “The Cry” in Canada, is involved in political reform and travels extensively as a speaker, prophet and evangelist. faytene.ca

Commissioner Wesley Harris
The author of several popular books, Commissioner Wesley Harris is retired from leadership in The Salvation Army in such countries as Canada, New Zealand, and Scotland. He continues a preaching and teaching ministry worldwide, and locally at the public school. His titles include BATTLE LINES, LIFE IS A TIGHTROPE, SUCCESS IS IN GIVING, and YOU’VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES.

Lt. Colonels Janet and Richard Munn
The Munns are vibrant, effusive, apostolic leaders of The Salvation Army International College for Officers. Emphatic lovers of Jesus who also think deeply about the things of God, the Munns are strategically positioned for God’s purposes. Gifted teachers and leaders, the Munns are taking The Salvation Army into experiences necessary to fulfill our prophetic end-time callings.

Lieutenants Peter and Alison Lublink
Peter and Alison lead The Salvation Army’s High Point Community Church a growing, evangelistic and mission-minded corps in British Columbia’s capital city of Victoria.  In 2008 they coauthored a leadership curriculum entitled OnLeadership focusing on the books of Nehemiah and 1 & 2 Timothy.

Donna & Robert Marshall
Hungry students of both the Word of God and the means of compellingly communicating it to a hurting world, Donna & Robert lead The Salvation Army in Portland at the Moore Street Corps. They were most recently responsible for the Army’s work in Compton California, where for several years they trained, taught, and led a committed soldiery on that challenging front.

Patricia King
Patricia King is a passionate, prophetic personality who is the host of Extreme Prophetic Television. She has had over 20 years of background as a Christian minister in conference speaking, prophetic service, church leadership, and television & radio appearances. Patricia is an author of books, booklets and manuals and has produced many informative resources through the medias of tapes, videos, CD’s and DVD’s.
